I first took up Gymnastics at the age of seven and became British Men’s Artistic Under 12 Champion in 2005 and made my International debut for Great Britain in November 2005.
I have also been a registered player at Notts County Football Club’s Centre of Excellence since I was eight years old and I signed a four year contract on my twelfth birthday which would have taken me up to scholarship age.
I have had to try to balance the two sports over the last few years but it has become increasingly difficult. At the start of the summer 2006 though, Notts County closed their Centre of Excellence as a cost cutting exercise so myself along with over 120 other boys, were released overnight.
I have had two offers from Nottingham Forest and Derby County but decided to concentrate on my gymnastics and am devoting all of my energy into competing at the 2012 Olympics.
I attended Rushcliffe school in West Bridgford, Nottingham but have since moved away from my Mum and Dad, brother Jack and sisters Olivia and Isobel and now live, go to school and train in Huntingdon.
On leaving Rushcliffe School I was really proud to receive the The Rushcliffe School Achievement Award for 2007, as I did in 2006 for managing the balance between my school work, gymnastics and football.
In the same week I was also very proud and privileged to receive an award from Rushcliffe Borough Council for being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year.
Since moving for the start of the new 2007 school term, my training schedule at Huntingdon has changed, I now have school studies on Monday to Friday mornings which then enables me to do gymnastics training for 26 hours per week, I also run every morning in order to build up my stamina. Saturday is my day off when I like to relax by playing golf with my old school mates from Nottingham. You can read more about my weekly schedules and also see my competition schedule on my calendar page.
